Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When are hot meals served at the centre?

A: Meals are provided 365 days a year. The doors typically open at 5:00 PM, dinner is served at 5:30 PM, and "last call" for service is usually at 6:30 PM.

Q: Who is eligible to receive a meal?

A:The services are open to anyone in the community who is in need of a meal. There are no fees or formal application processes required; it functions primarily as a drop-in service for individuals and families facing food insecurity.

Q: Is there a fixed daily menu for the meals?

A: There isn’t a set calendar menu, as our dinners are prepared by a wonderful network of volunteers rotating from different local churches and community organizations. While the dish changes from night to night depending on the group hosting, every single meal is made fresh and served with love.

Q:Are the meals eat-in or takeout?

A:While the centre loves being a gathering place, currently, free daily meals are provided as takeout services to ensure community members are fed regardless of the capacity of the indoor space and to allow for personal preferences.

Q: Does The Blessing Centre offer meal delivery?

A: While our heart's desire is to see everyone in Brantford fed, we do not currently have a delivery service. Because we rely entirely on the generosity of our volunteer team, our focus is dedicated to preparing and serving meals directly from our central location.

Q:Does the centre offer services beyond hot meals?

A:Yes. In addition to the Hot Meal Program, the centre provides grocery services through the food rescue initiative, and in colder months the centre serves as a warming centre during extreme weather.

Q:How can I volunteer with the organization?

A:The Blessing Centre relies heavily on volunteers from various local churches and the community to cook, prepare, and serve meals. Interested individuals can visit the website volunteer page to sign up.

Q:Is the facility accessible for those with mobility issues?

A:Yes, the physical location at 7 Burnley Ave is fully accessible to ensure all members of the community can receive help with dignity.

Q:How is The Blessing Centre funded?

A:The centre is supported by a network of local churches, community sponsors, and fundraising events and grants.
